AOSA PRESS RELEASE
After more than 20 years of leading the American Oxford Sheep Association (AOSA), Mary Blome of Stonington, IL will retire as the Association’s Executive Secretary on November 30, 2012. Mary has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Oxford breed lived-up to its motto of “Truly the World’s Best”. Mary has been responsible for helping to develop many of today’s sheep industry leaders through the experience they gained while serving on the AOSA Board of Directors. Mary has also been a long-time supporter of sheep related youth activities and helped with early establishment of the All-American Junior Show, the AOSA Ewe Lamb Futurity program and the National Junior Oxford Association to name just a few. Mary and her husband Harry have traveled all over the U.S. promoting Oxford Sheep at numerous state fairs for many years.
On December 1, 2012, David Trotter of Indiana will succeed Mary as the Association’s Executive Secretary. Trotter is a familiar face (or perhaps a familiar voice) in the sheep industry. He has served as the announcer of the sheep shows at the North American International Livestock Expo, the All American Junior Show, and the Kentucky State Fair for many years. David has also served the sheep industry with positions on the executive boards of both the American Sheep Industry (ASI) Association and the American Lamb Board. David and his family also operate a small farm flock of 30 ewes.
